You Can’t Out Sin God’s Grace

The truth of the matter is that in my Christian life, I’m a raging sinner. I’m good at it. I excel at it. You might say I’m varsity. You see, the truth is that Christians don’t stop sinning, they just stop getting penalized for it. I understand we have to deal with the aftermath of stupid and sinful decisions, scripture is clear on that. We will reap what we sow:

Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap.  Galatians 6:7 HSCB

I’m talking about having to pay for it. Eternally. Jesus has done that for me on the cross. He payed for my sin with His life so I don’t have to. So if this is the case why do we Christians continue to hide the fact that sin gets the best of us a lot? Here is the conversation that is played out in Self Righteous Church across America:

person A: How are you doing?

(hurting deeply, has issues with fear)

person B: Great!

(devastated with a porn addiction)

person A: So how can I pray for you?

(please notice I’m hurting..)

person B: Pray for my Aunt. She’s sick.

(I can’t tell you about my porn issue. It’s obvious you don’t struggle)

person A: Okay.

(wow, He’s doing awesome. I’ll bet he never struggles with fear..)

person B: How can I pray for you? What are you struggling with?

(wish I could talk about this struggle I’m having..)

person A: Pray for my family’s vacation. That it might be a good one.

(I can’t tell the truth, he’ll think I’m a horrible person)

person B: okay.

(wow, he doesn’t have any issues at all. Thank goodness I didn’t tell him the truth)

person A: See you later!

(wish I was perfect like him)

person B: Have a good one!

(wish I had no issues like that dude)

This resemble anyone you know? Maybe you. Your sins may be different, but the process is the same.

Here is the deal with GRACE. Jesus says that it is sufficient for you. Jesus means that your goodness, your awesomeness, your ability to not say bad words, do bad things, go to bad places are not sufficient. That His being murdered for you, shedding blood for you, being hung on a cross for you, is. Jesus’ work is sufficient. It’s enough. So, you can stop covering up now. You can share. You can get help. Your issues are actually where Jesus works the best.

Your weaknesses are where He is going to show His strength (2nd Cor 12:9). This means you can drop the pretentious, “I’m ok, pray for my cat” nonsense and share what is really hurting you, dare I say, killing you. Why?

CAUSE JESUS IS GOING TO SHOW HOW STRONG HE IS IN YOUR WEAKNESS!!!

Grace.

Religions says, Be good enough and Jesus loves you.

Jesus says, I love you completely and forgive you. You are free now to love me.

Religion says, don’t share your ugliness, make everyone think you are perfect

Jesus says, You can share your ugliness, because I am perfect.

Today, walk in the truth that Jesus is sufficient for you. Jesus is strong in your weakness.

Jesus frees you up to respond in righteousness found in Him, and not your works.

No matter how awesome you are at sinning, your actions are not greater than God’s grace.
