A word spoken at the right time is like gold apples on a silver tray. Proverbs 25:11 hcsb
I always groan when that happens to me. I’m like…uuuugh, should’ve called. I knew it.
Think of your day today. How many times a day did you hear words that tear you down. Words that frustrated you. Words that made you feel like…well, you weren’t doing things right.
Intentional or not….they hit home.
I’m really not sure who coined the phrase, “Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me,” because I’m not buying it!!
Through out the day there are opportunities all around us to either give words of life or words that kill.
It’s your choice.
Recently, I’ve been dealing with a number of stresses in my life (I’m sure I’m the only one right?! Yeah, I though so….) when just at the right moment I get a text from a friend. An email from a Dad on the soccer team I coach.
Let me tell you…. I was seeing golden apples on that silver tray! It came at just the right time.
You never know what the other person is going through. So I encourage you to go ahead with your encouragement. Don’t wait for them to ask…it kind of defeats the purpose then.
Be specific when encouraging someone. Don’t just say they did a great job, but be effective by acknowledging what they did and what a difference it made.
Let your encouragement come from various means…email them, text them, call them, but the most effective form is face-to-face.
For some of you this will be a piece of cake…for others this will take practice. Much Practice but you can do this.
Listen to the prompting in your spirit. God will encourage His people when an encouraging word should be given. He wants to use you—Don’t miss your chance.
Prayer: God, I need your encouragement today. Lead me to your word in the bible that shows me that you are there and will not forsake me. Help me to see the needs of others around me and to be bold enough to give that needing word of encouragement. I pray that you will give me the right word to say at the right time. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Thanks for putting all this information using one site. Very useful.
