Have you ever had a dream or strong yearning deep within your spirit to be bold for God and believe He wants to use you for His kingdom. I remember vividly six years ago the morning I sat down with three men of faith and we discussed a passion within our hearts to have an impact for God’s kingdom. We did not want to duplicate what we had previously seen — we wanted (with God’s help) to blaze a different path. Our dream was to hold a Christian event that would not just target the youth, or just the adults, or just the Churched. Our goal was to magnify God, encourage believers, and reach the lost. We wanted to hold an event that would bring cheer and encouragement for people of all ages. We realized one of the greatest methods of impacting so many would involve quality Christian bands. Desiring to reach a broad range of ages and audiences, we decided to also include rides, games, and inflatables. At the same time we wanted to bless the needy so we decided to include a food and clothing drive to help Border Missions in Hidalgo, Texas, and 2 Christian orphanages in Reynosa, Mexico and to take a love offering to help support their ministries. So far so good — we liked the vision. Adding to our challenge, we felt compelled to make this event free for all who attended.

The idea sounded great, but there was just one major hurdle.  Where would the finances come from to make this possible? The budget would be $ 25,000.00. We felt that, if it was God’s will, He would provide the funding.  I can say without hesitation, God is so faithful!  Due to the generosity of so many Churches, businesses, and individuals, we raised all funds needed the first year and six years later God is still providing, even as our budget keeps growing. Some of the bands that have blessed us through the years are Big Daddy Weave, Caedmon’s Call, Sidewalk Prophets, Phil Joel, Johnny Diaz, Kutless, and Matthew West. The featured artists this year include Kerrie Roberts, The Afters, and Sanctus Real and the event is scheduled for Saturday, October 13 from 4:00 — 9:30 p.m. at the Harlingen Soccer Complex. If it were not for the generous sponsors, the army of volunteers that give of their time, and assistance from the City of Harlingen and Harlingen Parks and Recreation, we would not be able to provide the event.  If you have friends that don’t know Christ or believers that need encouragement, I encourage you to bring them. I hope to see you there.

Blessings,

David Gray

Wow, you are right on target with this. I will relate with most, if not absolutely all, of the content. Great site!
